The station
Davis Vantage Pro2 with an integrated sensor suite. It has been running at the same site since March 2020.
A Meteobridge PRO sends readings to this server every three seconds, where the WS40 plugin shows them live and keeps a five-minute archive. Nothing goes through a third-party weather cloud; the data stays on this server.
Before WS40 the archive lived in Meteotemplate; the full history was migrated so the record is continuous from the first day.
What is measured
- Temperature and humidity — plus derived feels-like, dew point, wet-bulb and humidex.
- Wind — 10-minute average, gusts and direction; shown in knots and km/h, with Beaufort force.
- Rain — a tipping-bucket gauge gives rate and totals for today, month and year.
- Pressure — reduced to sea level, with the three-hour trend.
- Solar radiation and UV — with sunshine hours estimated from radiation.
Not from the station
The forecast, air quality and sea conditions come from Open-Meteo‘s models; the tide chart is published daily by the South African Weather Service. They are labelled as such on the page.
